ancestors. Probably born January 15, 1812 in Dalvers bei Berge,
Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Germany. Hermann married Margaretha
Krümpelmann and they had 4 children.

Wilhelm Köster (1858-1933), or another brother. The photo
was taken in Verden, which is about 10 miles southeast of Bremen
in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). Anna's older brother, Bernard
(b. 1853) was known to have served in the military. It is likely
that Wilhelm also served before he emigrated in 1884 at the age
of 26.

Anna
Köster (1863 - 1933), daughter of Hermann and Margaretha
(Krümpelmann) Köster, was born in Dalvers, Germany.
She immigrated to America in 1882 and changed the spelling of
her surname to Koster. She married Henry Nieland in 1884 in Breda,
Iowa, after the death of his first wife. Henry and Anna had 11
children, including two that died in infancy. Anna died at Breda
at the age of 70. This photo was taken about 1884, probably at
the time of Henry and Anna's marriage.

William
Koester (1858 - 1933), son of Hermann and Margaretha (Krümpelmann)
Köster, was born in Dalvers, Germany. When he immigrated
to America in 1882 he changed the spelling of his name to Koester.
About 1890 William married Christine
Wibben in Willey, Carroll County, Iowa. William and Christine
had 10 children. He died at Willey at age 75.
