GLIDDEN—Mass of the Christian Burial for Mrs. Norbert (Marlita) Grote, 45, who died at her home near Glidden Friday, May 3, was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Holy Family church in Lidderdale with the Rev. Tony Pick as celebrant.

Mark Kohost was lector; Mass servers were Philip Kohorst, Scott Sporrer and Jason Danner, and gift-bearers were three of her children: Teena, Tom, and Jackie Grote. Burial, under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home of Carroll, was in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Carroll. Serving as active casket bearers were Keith Kohorst, Bill Kemper, Steve Vonnahme, Scott Rosener, Rick Grote and Kurt Sailer. Honorary bearers were Jack Ramaeker, Algene Snyder, Jim Collison Jr., Jim Kanne, Dan Rose and Jerome Mescher.

Mrs. Grote is survived by her husband Norbert, Glidden; four daughters: Mrs. Steve (Laurie) McCrea, Glidden; Susan Grote, Des Moines; Teena and Jackie, both at home; a son Tom Grote, at home; two grandchildren: Beth and David McCrea; two brothers: Leon Kemper, Vail, and Joe Kemper, Templeton, and three sisters: Mrs. Roger (Deanna) Kohorst, Carroll; Mrs. La Verne (Rosalyn) Sporrer, Manning, and Mrs. David (Kathy) Prebeck, Fort Dodge, and her mother-in-law Mrs. Herman (Collette) Grote, Breda.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two children: Theresa and Gerald in infancy and a brother Kenneth Kemper.

Mrs. Grote was born at Templeton on August 6, 1939, a daughter of William and Frances Irlbeck Kemper. She attended Sacred Heart schools, graduating from high school in 1957. On June 17, 1961 she was married to Norbert Grote at Sacred Heart church in Templeton with the Rev. Leo Harpenau officiating.

After their marriage, they made their home three miles east and three quarters of a mile south of Carroll near the municipal airport. In 1977 they moved to a farm three miles east and a mile north of Carroll, their present home,

Mrs. Grote was secretary for the Midwest Wholesale Building Products in Carroll. She was noted for her accordion playing with the Westside Playboys and of late the Marlita and Schech band with the late Leonard Schechinger. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic parish at Glidden and of the church Ladies Guild.
