Breda in the Early Years

Our Nieland ancestors who emigrated from Germany in the 1870s and 1880s all settled in or near Breda, Iowa a small town (current population about 400) in Carroll County, which located in southwestern Iowa. The images on this page were taken from David Nieland's collection of historic postcards that date from the early part of the Twentieth century. Many of these buildings still exist and are in used today.
