Josef Nieland Family - about 1936

Franz Josef Nieland (1882 - 1972), also known as Josef, was the son of John Gerhard Nieland (1840-1919) and Maria Christina Nienhues (1842-1881). Franz Josef and several other siblings lived in Germany, but three of their brothers emigrated to America: Heinrich Josef, Bernard Christopher, and Herman Franz Nieland.

On October 27, 1908, Josef married Antonette Rommeswinkel (1888-1945). This photos shows Josef and Antoinette with all 15 of their children. The youngest of the children—twin girls, Margaret and Mathilde "Tillla" Nieland—were born in 1931.
