This website was created for the purpose of discovering and preserving the history of our branch of the Nieland family. Three Nieland siblings – Anna, Angela and Henry Nieland – emigrated from Westfalen, Germany to America in the 1860s and 1870s. Two other siblings – Gerhard and Gertrude – remained in Germany. Years later, three of Gerhard's sons – Henry, Bernard and Herman – also emigrated. We have traced this Nieland line back to about 1690 and are continuing our search for records of even earlier ancestors.

Research into the Nieland family history and genealogy is an ongoing effort. New material is being added nearly every week so be sure to bookmark this site and check back to see what's new.
