Richard and Louise Pappe in Kansas - early 1884 This early photo of Richard and Louise Pappe was probably taken about 1884 in Newton, Kansas. The couple arrived in Newton in mid-July 1882 and probably had their son, Robert, with them. (No information is available about Robert except the ship's passenger list that documents his arrival in the US with Richard and Louise.) Robert would have been at least 15 months old when they arrived in Newton. The child in the photo appears to be younger than that, so he is probably their second son, Albert Pappe, who was born in Newton on July 26, 1883. Assuming that he was at least six to twelve months old in the photo, the date then it would have been taken in the first half of 1884. Louise's dress style also supports the early 1884 date of this photo. |
