Richard
Pappe was born in Statterheim [sic], Saxony, Germany December
5, 1860, and died at his home in Kingfisher, Okla., April 12,
1919, of heart failure. He was at the time of his death 58 years,
4 months and 7 days of age.
He
came to America in May 1882, and was married to Henrietta Mathilde
Louise Kornrumpf at Pekin, Ill., July 20, 1882.
At the opening of Oklahoma in 1889, he filed on a homestead
east of Kingfisher. He was engaged in various business[es] here,
and at the time of his death, he was in the Real Estate and
Insurance business. He has held many prominent city offices
and was liked by all who knew him. He was a charter member of
the A. O. U. W. Lodge and at the time of his death was a member
of the board of directors of the Grand Lodge. He was also a
charter member of the Kingfisher Building and Loan Association
and has been one of the directors and appraisers of the association
ever since its organization.
Eleven
children were born to Mr. And Mrs. Pappe, four of whom are living.
Five died in infancy, Clara died at the age of nine years and
Albert died at the age of twenty-six. All his life he was a
member of the Evangelical Church, seldom being absent from his
place on the Sabbath day.
He
leaves to mourn their loss his beloved widow, one brother, Albert,
of Union City, Okla., four children, Richard Jr., Arthur, Mrs.
Louise Jersak and Court, all of Kingfisher, and six grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Monday afternoon at the home on North Eighth
Street at 2:30 and at the Evangelical Church at 3:00 o'clock.
Rev. J. W. Dickman, pastor of the Church officiated. The A.
O. U. W. Lodge attended in a body and had charge of the local
service. The remains were laid to rest in Kingfisher cemetery.

Mrs.
R. Pappe Sr., Pioneer Here Dies
Henrietta
Mathilde Louise Kornrumpf was born in Hannover, Germany, June
25, 1861, and died in Wesley hospital, Oklahoma City, on July
11, 1941, at the age of 80 years and 16 days.
She
came to America in May, 1882, and was married to Richard Pappe
in Pekin, Ill., July 20, 1882.
At
the opening of Oklahoma, in 1889, they filed on a homestead
east of Kingfisher, which she still owned at the time of her
death. They were engaged in various businesses.
To
them were born 11 children, four of whom are living. Five died
in infancy, a daughter passed away at the age of nine, and a
son, Albert, died at the age of 26. Her husband preceded her
in death on April 12, 1919.
All
her life she was a member of the Evangelical church.
Survivors include: three sons, Richard, Arthur and Court; one
daughter, Mrs. Louise Jersak, all of Kingfisher; 10 grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the home on North
Eighth street, and at the Evangelical church at 3 o'clock. Rev.
Ernest F. Nolte, pastor of the church, officiated. The remains
were laid to rest in the Kingfisher cemetery.

Final
rites were held Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Richard Pappe, Sr.,
pioneer Kingfisher resident, who passed away Friday in an Oklahoma
City Hospital. A short service was held at 2:45 p.m. at the
home on North Eighth street and at 3 p.m. at the Evangelical
church, with Rev. Ernest F. Nolte, pastor, officiating. Interment
was made in the Kingfisher cemetery. Bracken funeral home in
charge.
Mrs.
Pappe, who was 80 years old at the time of her death, came from
Germany to America in 1882, in which year she was married to
Mr. Pappe in Pekin, Ill. They filed on a homestead east of Kingfisher
in 1889 at the opening of Oklahoma.
Eleven
children were born to Mr. And Mrs. Pappe, four of whom survive,
namely, Richard, Arthur, Court and Mrs. Louise Jersak, all of
Kingfisher; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pappe died in 1919.

Pappe Dead
Albert
Pappe, son of Mr. And Mrs. R. Pappe, died at the family home
in this city at 4:30 o'clock p.m. Tuesday, aged 25 years, eleven
months and seventeen days. The funeral was held from the German
Evangelical church, the sermon being preached by Rev. A. Walton.
Internment in Kingfisher cemetery.
The
young man had been sick for some time, his death being due to
kidney and liver complaint.

Pappe Dies; Rites Pending
R.
Pappe, about 78, died Wednesday night at Mercy hospital in Oklahoma
City.
The
funeral will be held here, under direction of the Langley-Mason
funeral home but the arrangements have not yet been completed.
Pappe
was a retired Kingfisher businessman, having been a grocer here
for many years. He was a member of the Federated church here.
A
son of the late Mr. And Mrs. R. Pappe who staked a claim southeast
of here in the opening of 1889, Pappe was reared in this community.
He had moved to Oklahoma City several years ago.
Survivors
include his widow of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Allen Greer
of Oklahoma City; a son, Richard, who lives in California; a
sister, Mrs. Louise Jersak of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers,
Art and Court of Kingfisher, and grandchildren.

Pappe (1889-1971)

Arthur
Pappe, 81, died Tuesday at Community hospital after an illness
of about one week.
Funeral
was held this Thursday afternoon in Langley chapel, with Rev.
Leslie Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in Kingfisher cemetery.
Pappe,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pappe, was born in Kingfisher
September 27, 1889, and is reported to be the second baby boy
born in Kingfisher after the opening of Oklahoma for settlement.
Pappe
married Miss Violet Major in Kingfisher on July 28, 1909, and
they lived on the homestead southeast of Kingfisher until moving
into town in 1920.
He
was a member of the First Christian church and the Ancient Order
of United Workmen (AOUW).
He
was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers
and one sister. Survivors include his wife of the home; one
son, Max Pappe of Cathedral City, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs.
Dale (Louise) Altizer of Kingfisher; one brother, Court Pappe
Sr. of Kingfisher; one sister, Mrs. Louise Jersak of Springfield,
MO; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Albert Pappe (1925-1996)

PAPPE
Court, Jr., was born November 15, 1925, at Kingfisher, Ok.
to Court, Sr. and Mary W. (Drake) Pappe. He passed away January
3, 1996, at Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Ok., at
age 70. Court left high school to serve in the U.S. Navy.
He returned and graduated from Kingfisher High School. He
attended the University of Oklahoma, Central State College,
and graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law.
Court worked as an attorney for the State Highway Department.
He then served as Kingfisher County Associate District Judge
from 1974 - 1978. In 1976, he began his career as an independent
oil and gas operator. Also, during that time, he served as
a Kingfisher City Commissioner from 1981-1984. Court was a
member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and Kingfisher County
Bar Association, the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association
and Arizona Treasures Unlimited. He was a 32nd Degree Mason
and India Temple Shriner. He was an O.U. athletic donor and
enjoyed football trips around the country until his health
began to fail. He was also very involved with the Shriner's
children's programs. He enjoyed his home in Tempe, Arizona
and the wonderful Arizona weather and scenery. Most of all,
Court was a wonderful husband and father who devoted his life
to his loving family. Court married Oteka J. Fanning on February
12, 1955, Maysville, Ok. Survivors include his wife, Oteka
Pappe, of the home; 3 daughters, Pamela Sue Pappe, Oklahoma
City, Courtney Dianne Pappe, Tempe, Az., Janet Lynne Pappe,
Oklahoma City, Ok.; one brother, George Pappe, Kingfisher,
Ok.; sister-in-law, Dawn Pappe, Kingfisher, Ok.; brother-in-law,
James E. Fanning, Duncanville, Tx.; sister-in-law, Darlene
Fanning, and mother-in-law, Florida Nation, Wynnewood, Ok.;
3 nephews and 3 nieces; 3 precious pets, Cassi, Khelsee and
Douglas. Preceded in death by parents, Court Pappe, Sr. and
Mary Drake Pappe. Services will be Saturday, Jan. 6th, 1996,
at 10:30 a.m., Federated Church, with Pastor Tom Devitt conducting
the service, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service,
Inc. Memorials may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P0

Karl
R. Pappe Rites Scheduled Friday
Services
will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Union City Methodist church
for Karl R. Pappe, Union City pioneer, who died Wednesday in
an El Reno hospital following a long illness. His death followed
that of his wife by just two weeks.
Mr.
Pappe was born May 7, 1887 in Nebraska, and came to this county
about 50 years ago.
Survivors
include a son, Durvard of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hurst,
Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Katherine Hild, Washington, Neb;
one brother George of Qunicy, Wash., a half brother, Richard
Pappe, Union City; eight nephews and five nieces.
Officiating
will be Rev. Bud McDaniels of the Minco Methodist church and
interment will be in the Union City cemetery under supervision
of the Wilson funeral home.

R. 'Bill' Jersak
REEDS,
SPRING -- Dr. William R. "Bill" Jersak, 69, - Reed
Spring, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, July 29, in St. John's Regional
Health Center, Springfield, after a seven-month bout with cancer.
A
native of Kingfisher, Okla., he graduated from the University
of Oklahoma and the UMKC School of Dentistry. He served as a
Captain in the Army Dental Corps. Upon his discharge, he opened
his dental practice in Springfield in 1946 and continued practicing
through December of 1987. He was a 35-year member of the Springfield
Dental Society and was a lifetime member of the American Dental
Association. Prior to moving to his home on Table Rock Lake
in 1976, he was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
He
was preceded in death by a son, Paul, in Dec., 1986. In addition
to his wife of 40 years, Nell, he is survived by two daughters
and their husbands, Louise and Larry Grisham, Phoenix Ariz.,
and Nancy and Ken Henderson, Kimberling City, his son and daughter-in-law,
Richard and Wanda Jersak, Nixa, and Paul's widow, Gay Jersak
of Webster, Texas; six grandchildren, Margo, Krista, and Christopher
Grisham, Sara and Jill Henderson, and Gina Jersak; a sister,
Dr. Louise Galloway, Brunswick, Ga.; a brother, Dr. Robert C.,
Jersak and his wife Betty, Springfield; and several nieces and
nephews.
Memorial
services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Klingner Chapel in Springfield.
The body has been cremated.
Following
the services vices, the family will gather for visitation at,
the home of Richard Jersak, west on Highway 14 off of 160 to,
Espy School Rd., in Nixa.
In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew
Presbyterian Church, 30 James River Rd., Kimberling City, Mo.,
65686, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

CATHEDRAL
CITY, CA.
Max
Major Pappe, 84, of Cathedral City died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday,
February 24, at Amdal Residential Care in Rancho Mirage, where
he has resided since August of 2001 with his wife of 58 years.
He was admired and respected by all who knew him.
A
native of Kingfisher, OK, he was born December 28, 1917. He
moved to Downey, CA in 1948 with his wife, the former Mildred
Wittrock from Okarche, OK, and three children. He retired to
Cathedral City in 1971. The Pappe family was well known in Kingfisher,
his grandfather, Richard Pappe Sr., being among the first settlers
there in the opening of Oklahoma Territory in April 1889. He
made his living in the flooring business and was a full partner
in Floor Fashions, Inc. in Fullerton, CA. In retirement, he
pursued his life's passions as an inventor and ballroom dancer
and was an active amateur radio operator, using the call sign
KA6EKV. He was a 30-year member of the Benevolent and Protective
Order of the Elks of the USA, Lodge No. 1905 in Cathedral City.
At
the age of 16 he enlisted in the National Guard in Oklahoma,
serving for six years. In 1940 he entered the regular Army,
serving six more years in Panama and the Philippines as Unit
Commander, Field Artillery, and rising to the rank of Master
Sergeant. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant after completing
Officers Candidate School and was later promoted to First Lieutenant
upon his honorable discharge in 1946.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Pappe and Violet
Major Pappe of Kingfisher and one brother, Charles Pappe of
Oklahoma City, OK. In addition to his widow, Mildred, of the
home, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Donald
and Judy Pappe of Whittier, Marilyn and Don Davis of Cathedral
City, and Elaine and Robert Lawson of Laguna Beach, CA; five
grandchildren, Kimberly Cheney, Robert Willis, Angela and Jessica
Lawson; and five great grandchildren; a sister, Louise Altizer
of Kingfisher and a nephew, Charles Altizer of Oklahoma City,
OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private
memorial services will be held on Saturday March 9th in Cathedral
City.

for Richard H. Pappe, 49, Union City farmer, who died in a local
hospital after an extended illness.
Mr.
Pappe was born May 6, 1908, at Union City, and was a life-long
resident of the community.
Survivors
include the wife, Letress of the home; two sons, Albert of Union
City, and Raymond of Stillwater; a sister, Mrs. Emma Hurst of
Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, George Pappe of Quincy, Wash.
Rev.
G.F. Statser officiated and burial was in Union City, under supervision
of the Wilson funeral home.

Wesley 'Ab' Pappe
Funeral
services for Albert Wesley "Ab" Pappe were held at 2
p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, in the United Methodist Church in
Union City Rev. Perry Williams, pastor, officiated. Burial was
in the Union City Cemetery. Services were under the direction
of Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr.
Pappe left this world to live with the Lord on Dec. 16, following
a lengthy and suffering illness. He was born on the family farm
west of Union City on March 25, 1933, and lived in that area his
entire lifetime. AB was a retired farmer-rancher and in his early
years was also engaged in carpentry.
He
was a member of the United Methodist Church in Union City and
had served on various committees of the church. He was also a
member of Canadian County Mineral Association, serving in the
past on this board.
Mr. Pappe also served on the Union City Cemetery Board for over
40 years, having served as president of this association for a
number of years. He also had served on the Union City School Board,
was an honorary FFA chapter member and also participated in many
other community and county activities.
He
was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Pappe.
Ab
is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha of the home; son,
Michael Pappe of Union City; grandson, James Albert Pappe of Yukon;
his mother, Letress Pappe of El Reno; brother, Raymond Pappe and
wife, Shirley of Oklahoma City; cousins, Durward Pappe of Oklahoma
City and Omabelle Akers of El Reno; also, several out-of-state
relatives and numerous other relatives and friends.
The
family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church of Union
City Building Fund c/o P .O. Box 105, Union City, Okla. 73090.

Albert
L. Pappe, prominent Canadian county farmer, passed away on Monday
evening at his home ten miles southwest of El Reno. He is survived
by his wife, three sons and two daughters. He came to this country
from Germany at the age of 17 years and was 69 years of age at
the time of his death. He came to Oklahoma 20 years ago. Funeral
services were conducted yesterday afternoon from the Methodist
church at Union City by Rev. A. B. Hickman, and interment was
made in the Union Cemetery.

The
home of Albert Pappe was saddened by the death of his daughter,
Margaret, Saturday, February 20, pneumonia being the cause of
her death.
Obituary
Died,
at the home of her parents near Union City, Miss Margaret Pappe,
aged 18 years 6 months and 3 days. The sad intelligence of the
death of Miss Pappe came as a shock to many friends and relatives,
when at 5:30 Saturday evening, February 20th, news came over the
wires that death had claimed the bright and beautiful life.
Miss
Pappe was born August 17, 1890 in Nebraska. Her early life was
spent in Cass County, Nebraska and from there she moved to Oklahoma
with her parents, where they have resided near Union City, and
where Margaret was a favorite among her associates. Her sunny,
cheerful disposition won the admiration of the young and the commendation
of the old
.Her
sickness and death was the result of a severe attack of pneumonia.
Margaret enjoyed the best of health, until one week ago, and her
case was not thought to be serious until two days prior to her
death.
She
leaves to mourn her loss a devoted father and mother, three brothers
and two loving sisters, in whom we extend our sympathy.
The
funeral services were held in the M.E. church at Union, Rev. Phillips
officiating.
About
eighty carriages of relatives and friends made up the funeral
train that followed the remains of Miss Pappe to her final resting
place in the Union City cemetery.
The
neighborhood wishes to extend their sincere sympathy to the relatives
and friends of Margaret Pappe, whose early home going has saddened
the hearts of so many lives.

died Thursday, August 17, at Community hospital after a four-month
illness.
He
was born June 21, 1901 at Kingfisher to Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Pappe and attended Kingfisher schools. He married Mary Drake
in 1925. He was a retail-wholesaler and a member of AOUW.
Pappe
was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three bothers
and one sister.
Survivors
include two sons, Court Jr. and George Pappe of Kingfisher;
one sister, Mrs. Louise Jersak of Springfield, Mo., seven grandchildren
and three great grandchildren.

Charles
W. Pappe, 52, of Oklahoma City, a native of Kingfisher, died
Saturday at Baptist Memorial hospital at Oklahoma City.
Funeral
was held this Monday morning at Oklahoma City, followed by a
graveside service in the afternoon in the Woodward cemetery.
Pappe
was born June 16, 1915, in Kingfisher, a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Art Pappe. He attended Kingfisher schools.
He
had lived in Woodward a number of years before moving to Oklahoma
City.
Pappe
was a veteran of World war II.
Survivors
include the wife of the home; his parents; a son Keith with
the Air Force in Vietnam; a daughter Kay of Woodward; a sister,
Mrs. Dale Altizer of Kingfisher, and a brother, Max Pappe of
Downey, Calif.

was born July 29, 1915, in Kingfisher, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Pappe Sr. He attended schools in Kingfisher, Oklahoma
University at Norman and Oklahoma State University at Stillwater
Pappe
lived most of his life in Kingfisher, except for 11 years he
served as a mail clerk in California. The family had returned
to Oklahoma about two years ago.
Pappe
was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors
include his wife, Florence, of the home here; three daughters,
Mrs. Sandra Sedwrick of Tahlequah, Mrs. Sharon Carman of Dover,
and Mrs. Juanita Evanoff of Kingfisher; his mother, Mrs. Richard
Pappe sr., and a sister, Mrs. Allen E. Greer, both of Oklahoma
City, and nine grandchildren.

services for Mrs. Emma Pappe Hurst, Long Beach, Calif., formerly
of El Reno, were held there Monday afternoon.
Mrs.
Hurst was born Jan. 10, 1893 in Nebraska.
Survivors
include a daughter, Mrs. Duard Barnes, of Ardmore; one son,
Raymond J. Smith, San Jose, Calif.; four grandchildren, including
Mrs. Richard N. Rose, 2400 South Dille; and two great grandchildren.
