Notes:
1.
Franz and Anna Kornumpf returned to Germany briefly in 1900. This
is the record of their entry into the USA upon their return.
2.
Dorothea Kornrumpf was the wife of Hermann Kornrumpf (1855-19xx)
in Göttingen The passenger list states that her destination
was Hemlock, MI. It also states that she was meeting her daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rev. Kares [Cares].
3.
The passenger lists states that her destination was Buffalo, IA
and that she was meeting her cousin, Peter Lauschen and brother
? Gallant.
4.
The passenger lists states that her destination was Seattle WA and
that she was meeting her brother, Ernst Nictmann Diemarden [? handwriting
is hard to read].
5.
The place of residence is probably Kassel, Hesse, which is written
as "Casel" on the passenger list.
6.
Amalie and Paul Kornrumpf were the children of Hermann Kornrumpf
in Göttingen. The ship's list states that their final destination
was Port Huron, MI and that they were joining their uncle Frank
[Kornrumpf] in St. Clair Co, MI. Amalie married Rev. Franz Cares
and died in 1962 in Saginaw, MI. Records in the Göttingen Stadtarchiv
show that Paul returned to Göttingen in May 1902, moved to
Hannorver in 1903, returned in 1904 and left for the final time
in 1905. The ship's list shows that he sailed again to the USA in
1909. He died in Sacramento, CA in 1953.
7.
Capt. Kaspar was commander of a Hessen-Hanau Jaeger company that was sent by the British to Canada in 1777. Unfortunately the captain, weakened by severe seasickness, became ill in Canada and died in early July 1777 at Montreal. We know this from the company reports to their ruler, the Landgrave of Hessen-Hanau. (This information was provided by Henry Retzer, Assistant Director of Military Research,
The Johannes Schwalm Historical Association.)
