Johan Henrich Köster (circa 1712 - ?)

Believed to be our earliest Köster ancestor, likely the son of Rembert, Gerd, Johan Henrich or Bernd Köster

Johan Heinrich Köster was likely born about 1712 and likely married Agnes Kramer before November 1742 at Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. The marriage records for Berge are missing from 1731-1787, so we can not prove the marriage if it took place in Berge. In the baptism record of one of her sons, Agnes Kramer is listed as a heuerleute from the Anterhaus farm in Grafeld. No records have been found that give proof of Johan's parents. Rembert, Gerd, Johan Henrich and Bernd Köster appear to have been the right age and married when one of them could be the father of Johan.

We do not have a death date for this early ancestor.

From the likely date of her marriage, we assume Agnes Kramer was born about 1720 in Hanover. In the birth record of one of her son, Agnes Kramer is listed as "Heuerleute bei Bauer Anterhaus in Grafeld". From this marriage there were at least five children born. The children of this marriage we have found in our research were:

. . . . 1. Anna Alheid Elsabein Köster, baptized 7 October 1742, godparents were Alheid Köster, with Catharina Schmunkamps and Johan Berendt Poppen.

. . . . 2. Johan Herman, baptized 22 February 1749, godparents were Johan Herman Kramer, Herman Poppen and Gesina Dresman.

. . . . 3. Johan Henrich Köster, born say 1750 in Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. He married Catherine Wobbe.

. . . . 4. Johan Theodor (Dirk) Köster, baptized 24 August 1752. Godmother was Anna Elsabein Kösters.

. . . . 5. Johan Herman, baptized 19 May 1764. Godparents were Christian Niehaus and Herman Poppe and Catherine Margaretha Ankerhaus or Anterhaus.

We believe Johan Henrich Köster was one of the children of Johan Köster and Agnes Kramer, but we have not yet found his birth date. He married Catharina Wobbe in about 1773 and the couple had at least two children, baptized at Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover.

We do not yet have a death date for Johan Henrich Köster..

We do not yet have any information on the birth or death dates for Catharina Wobbe. Johan Henrich Köster and Catharina Wobble had at least two children, baptized at Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover:

. . . . 1. Catharina Phenn Adelheid Köster, born 23 May 1774 , . There is a civil record of the marriage of Catharina Adelheidis Köster to Bernardus Henricus Anterhaus in May 1808. We do not know if this is the same person, since no parents are listed in the record.

. . . . 2. Johan Herman Köster, born 16 February 1779 , godparents were Johan Henrich (perhaps Herman) Köster and Catharina Angela Marcus.

Phenimia Angelbecke (Köster)(circa 1762 - ?)

Second wife of Johann Herman Köster (circa 1760-?)

We assume Phenemia Angelbecke was born in about 1762 because she was married in about 1785. We continue to search for records for her. There are current listings of Angelbeck families in the German phone book in the area of Stemwede, a hamlet near Osnabrück. The children of Johan Herman Köster and Phenemia Angelbecke were:

. . . . 1. Herman Gerhard Köster, born 17 June 1786, godparents were Johan Herman Kramer, Bernd Angelbecke and Catharina Wobbe. Herman Gerhard married three times, first to Anna Catharina Marcus, second to Maria Catharine Kreiling and thired to Maria Catharina von der Haar.

We do not know the death date for Phenemia Angelbecke.

Herman Gerhard Köster (1786 - 1837)

Johann Herman Gerhard Köster was baptized on 17 June 1786 in Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. Godparents were Johan Herman Kramer, Bernd Angelbecke and Catharina Wobbe.

He married three times. He married Anna Catharina Maria Marcus , Catholic, on 12 October 1811, at Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. His parents are named as Hermans Köster and Adelheid Krümpelmann in this marriage record. He married Maria Catharina Kreiling 29 May 1816 in Bersenbrück, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. In that record her is listed as the widower of Maria Catharine Marcus. He married Maria Catharina Elizabeth von der Haar, on 27 April 1822 in St. Servatius Catholic Church at Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. Herman Gerhard's parents are not listed in the marriage record, but the witnesses are Ch. Pelster and Bernd. Schulting. Christopher Pelster was the "Custos" or custodian of St. Servatius Catholic Church.

Hermann Gerhard Köster died on 19 September 1837. He is listed as 50 years old, from Dalvers.

Catharina Phenn Adelheid Köster (1774 - ?)

Daughter of Johan Henrich, granddaughter of Johan Henrich Köster

Catharina Phenn Adelheid Köster was baptized 23 March 1774 in Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. Godparents were Alheid Kösters, Bernd Grevemüller and Phenn Elsabein Wobbe.

There is a civil record of the marriage of Catharina Adelheidis Köster to Bernardus Henricus Anterhaus in May 1808. We do not know if this is the same person, since no parents are listed in the record, but we have seen a connection to the Anterhaus family in earlier baptism records.

We have no other information about Catharina.

Johan Herman Köster was baptized 16 February 1779 in Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. Godparents were Joan Henrich Köster and Cath. Angela Markus. We believe Joan Henrich is really Johan Herman.

Johan Herman Köster died 19 June 1801 in Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover . He is listed as 22 years 4 months, from Grafeld.

Johan Herman Bernard Köster (1783 - 1787)

Son of Johan Herman, grandson of Johan Henrich Köster

Johann Herman Bernard was baptized on 3 July 1783 in Berge, Kreis Bersenbrück, Hanover. Godparents are Johan Köster and Phenenna Elisabeth Kösters and it appears they live on the land of Bernard Oldemann. This is written as "Oldemann's Heuer in der Bauernschaft Höfen/Dalvers Nr. 4C".

Johan Herman Bernard Köster died on 27 November 1787 in Schmone, (Kreis Bersenbrück) Hanover. He is listed as 4 years, 5 months old.
