Lina Köster was born in 1920, in Dalvers bei Berge, Niedersachsen, Germany but we do not know the date of her birth. She and her cousin Franz lived on a small farm in Dalvers. In 1973, when Sister Pauline Wittry and David Nieland visited them, Lena and her cousin Franz were living on a farm near Dalvers that they rented from Henry Oldemann. Mr. Oldemann was a descendant of a man Ann Köster (1863-1933) worked for before her emigration to the USA. Lena remembered that her grandfather, Herman Bernard Köster, went to Holland to cut hay for the cattle. This was a common way for “heuermen” to earn money to pay rent for their land.

Lina died in 1992 in Dalvers bei Berge, Niedersachsen, Germany. She is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Berge, Niedersachsen, Germany
