Anna Catherine Nieland was born on 30 May 1899
at Carroll County, Iowa. She married Jacob
J. Wittry on 6 September 1921 at St. Bernard Catholic Church,
Breda, Carroll County, Iowa. She was also known as Ann.
She appeared in the 1930 Federal census at Carroll
County, Iowa. Anna (30) is enumerated on a farm in Grant Township
with her husband Jacob (35) and children Leone (6), Pauline (3 8/12)
and Joan (2 3/12). Also in the household are James Welch (32), an
Irish immigrant who arrived in 1914 listed as a roomer and Arlene
Snyder (15), born in Iowa and listed as a servant. Jacob is renting
the farm and the family has a radio.
Anna died on 12 May 1984 at Breda, Carroll County,
Iowa, at age 84. She was buried at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Cemetery,
Mount Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa.

Jacob J. Wittry, son of Jacob Witry Sr. and
Anna Wirtz, was born on 5 August 1894 at Mount Carmel, Carroll County,
Iowa. He was also known as Jake. He was farming about 1930 at Lidderdale,
Carroll County, Iowa. He and his family moved in with Henry Nieland
when Henry needed help with daily living. Jake had an insurance
office in Breda for many years.

1) Dorothy was born on 3 October 1922. She died
on8 December 1922. She was buried at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic
Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa.
2) Leone Monica
3) Francis Joseph was born on 10 January 1925. He died on 10 January
1925. He was buried at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery
in Mount Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa.
4) Pauline Ann was also known as Sister Mary Danielle FSPA. She
was given her final vows as a sister in June 1946 at LaCrosse, LaCrosse
County, Wisconsin. She was also known as Sister Pauline. She chose
to go back to her given name after the changes that resulted from
Vatican II.
5) Joan Margaret
6) Helen was born on 8 March 1929. She died on 8 March 1929. She
was buried at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Mount
Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa.
7) Teresa was born on 7 March 1930. She died on 7 March 1930. She
was buried at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Mount
Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa.
Jacob died on 19 August 1966 at Breda, Carroll County,
Iowa, at age 72. He was buried at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic
Church, Mount Carmel, Carroll County, Iowa
