Likely the Son of Gerhard Nilandt

Berndt Nilandt was born circa 1645, probably in Gemen, (Kreis Borken), Westphalia. We believe he was married twice. He married Anna im Porte, also listed as Anna von de Wall 26 February 1669. The marriage was performed by Pastor Johann Durckhussler.

We believe he married a second time, to Metta Lestering in about 1680. In the baptism record of his child Maximillian Henrich in 1686, Berndt Nilandt is listed as Bürgermeister or Mayor Berndt Nilandt. In Das Bürgerbuch von Bemen 1693-1818, a book which transcribes early records from Gemen, Berndt Nilandt is listed in a record of the citizens of Gemen in 10 August 1693. He is again listed as Bürgermeister. Gemen at most times had two bürgermeisters. This was often the tradition in Westphalia.

We do not know the death date for Berndt Nilandt.

Anna im Porte, im Wall or von de Walle was born circa 1645. From the Levering source, we believe she is also listed in the records as Ann Forck. The only children found for Berndt Nilandt and Anna im Porte in the records in Gemen, (Kreis Borken), : Westphalia are:

1) Gerhard Wilhelm, born 24 September 1699, godparents were Mayor Gerdt Nilandt, Henrich Nilandt and Janeke de Wall.
2 ) Anna Eliesabeth, born 17 June 1671, godparents were Anna Heisterkamp, wife of Mr. Lucus, Aleka Rosina and her husband Gert.
3) Johann Henrich, born 17 February 1673, godparents were "Bastian" Nilandt, Tönnis Kost or Lest and Anna Eliesabeth Bleiß.

We assume Anna im Porte/von de Walle died in about 1679.

Metta Lestering or Lefering was born circa 1660. The children of Berndt Nilandt and Metta Lestering, all born in Gemen, (Kreis Borken), Westphalia, were:

1) Johann Daniel, born 27 October 1680
2) Aleken Anna, born 28 February 1682, godparents were Cataria Sommer, Gesche Lefering, Maximillian der Heecke or Recke
3) Alheit Liesabeth, born 15 September 1683, godparents were Margreta Nilant, Liesabeth Tilcken and Henrich Lefering.
4) Maximillian Henrich, born 4 January 1686, godparents were county official Henrich Heyl, Maximillian Heck or Recke and Engl Nilandt.
5) Johann Dieterich, born 21 November 1687, godparents were Gert Tönnen's son, Gerdrut Hasen and Luise Notteln.
6) Johann Christina Liesabeth, born 2 April 1689, godparents were Christan, the first ?, Anna Liesabeth Iserlon and Eillem Leuenings.
7) Margreta Maria, born 17 Jun 1691, godparents were Margreta Wattenohr ?, Niederlin Schoneß and Johann der Liechtenmann.
8) Anna Margreta, born 6 April 1695. She is only listed as the daughter of Berndt Nilandt and there are no godparents listed.
