The daughter of John Henry Nieland and Anna Köster (John Henry, John Henry, John Henry, Joannes Daniel, Joannes Bernardus, Johann Daniel Nieland, Berndt Nilandt, Earliest Nieland)

Elizabeth was born on 18 October 1884 in Carroll County, Iowa. . She was also known as Sister Mary Florina, FSPA. She made her first profession of vows in 1904 and her final vows in 1910 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was Director of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in LaCrosse.. A newspaper article about her golden jubilee says, "She did this until 1948. She was instrumental in much of the progress which has been made in elevating nursing standards and nursing education locally and on the state level". She was also on the nursing staff of St. Anthony's Hospital at Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa. In 1950, Sister Florina (Elizabeth Nieland) lived at LaCrosse, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin.

Sister Florina died on 13 March 1957 at age 72. She is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in LaCrosse, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin.
