Joannes Daniel Nieland (1740-1808)
Generation 5

The son of Joannes Bernard and Maria Gesina von der Beck, grandson of Joannes Danielis Nieland, great grandson of Berndt Nilandt, 3rd great grandson of the Earliest Nieland

Joannes Daniel Nielandt is listed as "Daniel" and "Jan Daniel" in Das Bürgerbuch von Bemen 1693-1818, a book which transcribes early records from Gemen, on 18 June 1767, perhaps with his first appointment of "forster" or "vorsteher" or provost. He is listed again on 3 May 1772 and 6 May 1772. In the record from 23 November 1782, 25 May 1783 and 1 June 1783, Daniel Nielandt is listed as "Rentmeister". The Rentmeister was the revenue collector and may have collected tax from citizens or rent from peasant farmers. On 26 October 1783 and 18 November 1787, he is listed as "Bürgermeister" or mayor.

Joannes Daniel may have married a second time. The marriage records from Gemen list a marriage between Johannes Daniel Nieland and Agnes Gertrude Berghof on 26 November 1791. There are no birth dates or parents listed, so it is not proven. Witnesses to this marriage were Joes. Gerhard and Adelheidis Berghof. We have not located any other person named Joannes Daniel Nieland who would have been the appropriate age for this marriage, but we continue to research this connection. He died on 22 December 1808 at age 68.
