Mary Ida "Ida" Boes (Grabner) (1882-1946)

The daughter of Maria Anna Nieland and Gerhard Boes (Maria Anna Nieland, John Henry, John Henry, Joannes Daniel, Joannes Bernardus, Johann Daniel Nieland, Berndt Nilandt, Earliest Nieland)

Mary Ida was born on 8 September 1882 at Sac County, Iowa. She married Joseph Theodore Grabner on 27 May 1919 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Breda, Carroll County, Iowa. She was also known as Ida.

She appeared on the Federal census of 1920 at Carroll County, Iowa. Ida (37) was enumerated in Wheatland Township on a farm with her husband Joseph T. (?45) and his children Myrtle (10), Irene (8) and Joseph (5). Also living with the family is Irving Miller (19) a hired man who was born in Illinois. They own their farm with a mortgage. All of the family is listed as born in Iowa.

She appeared on the Federal census of 1930 at Carroll County, Iowa. Ida (47) is enumerated on a farm in Wheatland Township with her husband Joseph (46), his children "Mirtle" (20) and Joseph (15) and their child Mary A. (9). Also living with the family is Gregory Reising, a hired man 23 years old, born in Iowa. They own their farm and have a radio.

Ida died on 1 December 1946 at age 64 at Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa. She was buried at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Breda, Carroll County, Iowa.

 


Joseph Theodore Grabner (1884-1955)

Description of relationship to Nieland ancestor

Joseph T. Grabner, son of Joseph Nicholas Grabner and Margaret Stemper, was born on 10 January 1884 at Iowa. He married Margaret M. Koster, daughter of William G. Koster and Margearetha Berning, in 1908. They had three children: Irene, Myrtle and Joseph w. Grabner. After Margaret's death, he married Ida Boes.

The child of Mary Ida Boes and Joseph T. Grabner is:
1) Mary Ann

Joseph died as a result of a car accident on 19 March 1955 at age 71 at Carroll, Carroll County, Iowa. He was buried at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Breda, Carroll County, Iowa.
