Mary Magdalene was born on 26 June 1892 in Carroll County, Iowa. She was also known as Sister Mary Sigmunda, FSPA. She made her first profession on July 2, 1913 and her final profession on July 2, 1919 at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was a teacher, first in elementary grades and later at high schools. She taught in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Washington State.

Sister Sigmunda died on 26 March 1972 at age 79. She is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in LaCrosse, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin.
