Sister Mary Danielle, FSPA)
Sister
Pauline Wittry is the daughter of Jacob and Anna Catherine (Nieland)
Wittry and granddaughter of John Henry Nieland and Anna (Köster)
Nieland. She was born in raised in Breda, Iowa and entered St. Rose
Convent in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1943 after graduating from St.
Bernard High School. She made her first vows in 1946 and final vows
in 1953. Sister Pauline graduated from the Montana State University
with a degree in Home Economics, then later earned a Master's degree
in Counseling at Loyola University . She has worked as a dietitian
at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, a chaplain at St. John's Hospital
in Springfield, Illinois, and as an educator at LaCrosse. She has
traveled extensively, including trips to South Korea, India, Italy,
and Germany.
