Albert John "Pat" Poeppe  1902-1976

EMMETSBURG — Albert John Poeppe, 74, of 404 Harrison, Emmetsburg, died at his home here on Monday, Nov. 15. He had retired as a farmer in 1973 and had previously lived in Carroll County. He had resided in Palo Alto County since 1947.

Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg with the Rt. Rev Msgr. C.E. Farrelly officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery under the direction of the Martin-Bails Funeral Home of Emmetsburg.

Friends may call at the Martin-Bails Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Mr. Poeppe, son of George and Helen Wernimont Poeppe, was born on Feb. 23, 1902 at Mt. Carmel. His marriage to Julia Nieland took place on Jan. 15, 1929 at Breda.

Surviving with his wife are six daughters, Mrs. Delbert (Dolora) Brincks of Carroll, Sr. Anita Poeppe of Dedham, Mrs. Ken (Fern) Dobbins of Morehead, Minn., Mrs. Roger (Phyllis) Hanish of Laurens, Mrs. Howard (Patricia) Metzger of Estherville, Mrs. Thomas (Zeline) Mosbach of Lake View; three sons, Wayne of Graettinger, Kenneth and Dale Poeppe, both of Emmetsburg. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one brother, Theodore Poeppe of Mt. Carmel; three sisters, Mrs. J.R. (Teresa) Neumayer of Compton, Calif., Mrs. A.J. (Martha) Rettenmaier of Kansas City, Kan., And Mrs. Erwin (Colette) Stork of Emmetsburg.

Mr. Poeppe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and two infant sisters.
