Funeral services for Alvina Eischeid, 88, of Bayard
were held August 3 in St. Patrick's Church in Bayard. Rev. Mike
Peters celebrated Mass. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery,
Bayard. Ohde Funeral Home, Bayard, was in charge of arrangements.
Alvina Elizabeth, daughter of Joseph and Appolonia
Walz Boes, was born April 19, 1917, at home in Breda. She attended
St. Bernard's Catholic School in Breda, after which she performed
housekeeping near her home and in Sac City. For a short time, Alvina
was a nanny in Carroll.
On November 7, 1939, Alvina was united in marriage
with Stanley Eischeid at St. Bernard's Church in Breda. Six children
were born to this union. They lived south of Bayard and began farming
in 1940. During this time, they also operated dairy and trucking
businesses. In the mid 1970's, they quit farming and purchased the
Bayard Elevator where Alvina worked as a bookkeeper. Stanley died
September 15, 1982. In 1995 Alvina moved into Bayard.
Alvina was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Bayard
and enjoyed participating with the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed fishing,
playing cards, going to the casino, crocheting, dancing and spending
time with her family. Alvina enjoyed wintering in Texas and California.
Alvina died at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie
Center on July 31, 2005. She was 88 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband;
an infant daughter, Patricia, granddaughter, Danielle Hilton; sisters:
Edna Ziegmann, Ermina Trammel, Johanna Doyle, and Anna White; brothers:
Vincent Boes, Garrett Boes and a brother in infancy.
Alvina is survived by five children: James and
his wife Jeannette Eischeid of Bayard, Richard and Judy Eischeid
of Bettendorf, Kathleen and her husband, John Ramon of Los Gatos,
CA; Janice and her husband, Steve McGill of San Bernardino, CA,
and Steve and his wife, Sharon Eischeid of Bayard; eight grandchildren;
15 great grandchildren; sister Hilda Laha; brothers Cyril Boes and
his wife, Elsie and Rufus Boes and his wife Doris; other relatives
and friends.
