MRS. JOHN BOES' FUNERAL THURSDAY
Passed Away at Her Home In Breda, Sunday Morning,
December 2nd.
HAS BEEN IN POOR HEALTH PAST YEAR
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's church
in Breda Thursday morning for Mrs. John Boes, 70 years old, who
passed away at her home in Breda, Sunday morning, December 2. Mrs.
Boes had been in poor health for the past year, and seriously ill
since Thanksgiving. Death was attributed to heart disease and other
complications.
The Rev. Norbert Boes of Pomeroy, son of Mrs. Boes
celebrated the solemn requiem high mass. The deacon was a nephew,
the Rev. Father Zeno Reising; sub-deacon, the Rev. Father Clemens
Knobbe; master of ceremonies, the Rev. Father Leroy Frank; thurifer,
the Rev. Father L. P Friedman; acolytes, Robert Oswald, Vernon Boes
and Joseph Knobbe. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Mrs. Boes was born Anna Geier, October 13, 1874, in
Benton county, Iowa. She was two years old when her parents, John
and Rosina Geier, brought their family to a Sac county farm northwest
of Breda to make their home.
She remained at home until her marriage to John Boes,
which took place October 8, 1901, in St Bernard's church in Breda.
The couple located on a farm northwest of here, where they lived
until their retirement four years ago, when they moved into town.

Mrs. Boes was a member of St. Bernard's church, the
Christian Mothers Sodality and the Missionary Society of the parish.
Besides her husband, she leaves six sons and one daughter;
William Boes, Wall Lake, Julius Boes, Breda; Mrs. Henry Steinkamp
(Eleanora), Wall Lake; the Rev. Norbert Boes, Pomeroy; Cpl. Cletus
Boes, with the ninth Army in Germany; and Pfc. Romaine Boes, of
Camp Beale, Calif. Two sons preceded their mother in death. Herbert,
the eldest, died at the age of eight months and Alois, twin brother
of Mrs. Henry Steinkamp, also at eight months.
Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Boes is survived
by 18 grandchildren and three half brothers: John and Louis Reising,
Breda, and Max Reising, near Breda, and one sister-in-law, Mrs.
Agnes Geier of Breda.
Her parents, one brother, William Geier, one sister,
Emma Geier, and one half-sister, Mrs. Louis Woerdehoff (Mary), preceded
her in death.
Pallbearers were: Marcellus Oswald, Richard Stark,
Vincent Snyder, Conrad Schaefer, Henry Heinrichs, Dr. T. H. Van
Camp.
The Christian Mothers attended the service in a group.
