Ardys Ann Collins, 76, of Scranton, died March 1, 2009 at Jefferson.
Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Scranton. Father Don Ries was the celebrant.
Lectors were Matthew Taylor and Adam Taylor. Casket bearers were Emily Taylor, Adam Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Rodney Wolf, Doug Miller and Pat Murrane.
Burial was in Scranton Township Cemetery in Scranton at 3 [.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton.
The Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home of Jefferson was in charge of the arrangements.
A daughter of Julius and Myrtle (Grabner) Boes, she was born June 23, 1932, in Breda. She was the first of five daughters. She attended St. Bernard Grade School and High School. After graduating from high school in 1949, she worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. In 1953, Ardys married Raymond L. Collins of Lohrville, Iowa. They moved to a farm in Greene County in December 1953 where they continue to farm. They raised four children: Anthony, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Melissa.
Ardys was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church of Scranton. She served on the Scranton Library Board, she was a troop leader with the Girl Scouts of America, a member of the Varcies Club, and enjoyed Bridge Club. She was and avid reader, excellent cook and baker, horticulturist and card player.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond L. Collins; three daughters: Elizabeth Ann Collins of Council Bluffs, Jennifer Jean (Collins) Taylor and husband Matthew Taylor of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Melissa Joan (Collins) Thompson and husband Michael Thompson of Cocoa Beach, Florida; grandchildren Emily Rae Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona, Adam Jerome Taylor and Anthony Robert Taylor of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her three sisters: Mary Jo (Bob) Loyd, Leawood, Kansas, Myriel Boes of Omaha, and Audrey (Terry) Johnson of Bode, Iowa
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Anthony "Tony" John Collins; and a sister, Wilma "Jean" (Boes) Pudenz.
