Memorial Rites Held Monday For Pvt. Art Nieland

Breda (THNS) - Military memorial rites for Pvt. Arthur Nieland were held at St. Bernard church at 9 o'clock Monday morning. The Rev. Father E.K. Schleyer celebrated the requiem high mass.

The military rites were in charge of Fred. F. Bruning Post of the American Legion. Color guards were Edwin Heiman and Ervil Tiefenthaler and color bearers, Frank Hatting and Julius Bohnenkamp.

Pallbearers were: Alvin Witwer, Norville Steinkamp, Elmo Knobbe, Edmond Boes, Vincent Boes, and Mike Reising. Taps were sounded by George Mumm.

Commander Peter Oswald, who was in charge of the military rites, presented Pvt. Nieland's mother with the flag.

A large number of relatives and friends from Breda and vicinity attended the services.
