CEDAR FALLS—Barbara Jo Dierks, 47, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Carroll died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at her home following a 2 1/2-year battle with liver cancer.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Orchard Hill Church, 1215 Elmridge Drive in Cedar Falls, with the Rev. Ed Baker officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Cedar Falls

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, 1825 W. 12th St. in Cedar Falls. Visitation will also be held an hour before the funeral.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Orchard Hill Church in lieu of flowers.

A daughter of Merlin and Mary Lou (Schlettler) Kraus, she was born June 15, 1961, at Carroll, graduated from Anita High School in 1979 and earned a bachelor's degree at Buena Vista College in 1983.

She and Duke Dierks were married Dec. 20, 2003.

Mrs. Dierks enjoyed drawing and painting and sold her creations at her business, Farmhouse Designs, and by consignment.

She was a member of Orchard Hill Parish.

Survivors include her husband, Duke, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Brandon Husmann of Cedar Falls and Michael Husmann of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Kim Husmann, of Cedar Falls; a stepson, Dacen Dierks, of Cedar Falls; four sisters and their husbands: Debbie and Sidney Stepp of Clinton, Tenn., Donna and Denny Culbertson of Omaha, Neb., Darlene and Mark Littleton of Lexington, Ohio, and Annette and David Raubvogel of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Mike Kraus, and his wife, Ruthie, of Anita; her parents, Merlin and Mary Lou Kraus, of Anita; her parents-in-law, Darrell and Pat Dierks, of Cottonwood, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Dane Dierks, and his wife, Cindy, of Cedar Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Dawn Luna, and her husband, Dan, of Davenport.
