Mrs. Andrew Nieland, 47 died about 1 a.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 16, of a heart attack at her home six miles west of Carroll.
She had been in poor health for some time.
Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home starting
at 7 p.m. Tuesday, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday by the Christian
Mothers of St. John's parish, Arcadia, led by the Rev. C. A. Ahmann.
Solemn requiem high mass will be at 10 a.m., Thursday,
Feb. 18, at St. John's Church, Arcadia, with Fr. Ahmann as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Mrs. Nieland, the former Caroline Irene Staiert, was
a lifelong resident of Carroll County. She was born Aug. 23, 1912,
a daughter of William and Elizabeth Weber Staiert, at Carroll. She
received her schooling at St. John's School, Arcadia and St. Angela
Academy, Carroll. Her marriage to Andrew Nieland took place at Arcadia
June 4, 1935. Mrs. Nieland was a member of St. John's Church and
the Christian Mothers of the parish.
Surviving are her husband, Andrew, Route 3, Carroll;
the following children: Sr. M. Justine (Ruth Ann) and Sr. M. Irene
(Marlene) both of St. Rose Convent, La Crosse, Wis.; Sr. Ione, Poor
Claire Convent, Omaha, Neb.; Mary, Leonard, Maurice and Alma at
home; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Staiert, Arcadia; and the following
sisters and brothers: Mrs. Lawrence (Amelia) Wernimont and Mrs.
Albert (Dorothy) Kennebeck, both of Carroll; Joe Staiert, Arcadia;
and Irvin Staiert, Carroll.
Her father and one sister, Viola Nieland, preceded
her in death.
