Wake services for Clarence H. Kraus of El Reno were held Monday, May 7 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, May 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Francis Nguyen officiating. Interment was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche.
Mr. Kraus died May 4, 2007, at Parkview Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Kingfisher to his parents, John and Frances (Meimer) Kraus. Clarence grew up in Omega. He attended Omega schools and was a 1941 graduate of Omega High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Agnes Osterholt on May 20, 1947, in Okarche. He and Agnes lived in Okarche for a few years before moving to El Reno in 1950. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Merveldt Farms and URC Oil Company. Clarence was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He received a Citizen of the Year Award for his efforts in the renovation of Legion Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Walter Kraus, Franklin Kraus and Francis Kraus, and a sister, Lucille Rund.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Kraus of the home; a son, Dan Kraus, also of the home; a daughter, Donna Morris and husband, Bill of Goodland, Kan.; grandsons, Chad Bollinger and wife, Andrea of El Reno and Cameron Morris of Goodland, Kan.; a great-granddaughter, Allison Bollinger of El Reno; brothers, John Kraus Jr. and wife, Jeannie of Kingfisher, Robert Kraus and wife, Mary, and Edward Kraus and wife, Agnes, all of Oklahoma City; and a sister, Betty Ivie and husband, Gerald of Oklahoma City.
