Cletus Lawrence Studer 1930-2008 The Forest City Summit, February 27, 2008 Cletus L. Studer, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Society Huskamp Haven in Algona, at the age of 77. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, February 25, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wesley, with Father Randy Schon officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Wesley, was in charge of the arrangements. Cletus Lawrence Studer, was born on October 1, 1930 in Wesley, son of Julius Phillip and Caroline Frances (Wingert) Studer. He grew up on a farm near Wesley attending the St. Joseph Catholic School thru the 8th grade. He then graduated from the St. Lawrence Seminary in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, before returning to the area helping on the farm. Cletus was united in marriage to Colleen Reising on August 30, 1954 in Wesley, Iowa. They farmed the family farm Southeast of Wesley for many years. In 1976, he began working at Universal Manufacturing in Algona until retiring in 1994. He loved being with his family, gardening, and working in the yard. He also enjoyed camping, playing cards, and watching sports. He is survived by seven children, Chris (Monte) Leichsenring of Clarion, Jim Studer and fiancée, Terri Merschman of Ankeny, Dean Studer of Chapin, Illinois, Shelly (Mike) Heinze of Middle Amana, Dennis (Becky) Studer of Des Moines, Todd (Donna) Studer of Clarion and Kim (Rick) St. John of Heidelberg, Germany; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Sr. Madeline Studer of Mankato, Minnesota, Phillip (Rosalee) Studer of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Virginia (Bill) Orthel of Dublin, Texas, Carol Elmore of Algona, Kay (Bienve) Perez-Studer of Seattle, Washington, Steve (Hope) Studer of the Caribbean, Gerald (Mary) Studer of Lewisville, Texas, Margaret Studer of Anacortes, Washington and Rose Marie Studer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Caroline Studer; and step-mother, Minnie; his wife, Colleen on September 18, 2001; a grandchild, Victoria Studer; and brothers and sisters, Vincent, Marvin and Stan Studer, Sr. Rita Studer and Fabian, Denis and Julius Leroy in infancy.
