Cyril L. Schettler, 76, of Breda, died Friday, September 19, 1986, at his home in Breda after several years of failing health.

Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday, September 23, at St. Bernard church in Breda with the Rev. Thomas Munn as celebrant. A son-in-law, Paul La Liberti was lector and gift-bearers were Bob and Karen Schettler.

Mr. Schettler is survived by his wife Marion, Breda; seven sons: Charles Schettler, Dayton, OH; Darrell Schettler, Carroll: Michael Schettler, Tulsa, OK; William Schettler, Mount Vernon; Robert Schettler, Breda, David Schettler, Phoenix, AZ; and Bernard Schettler, Hyattsville, MD; three daughters; Mrs. William (Emily) Galloway, Blue Springs, MO; Mrs. Paul (Mary) La Leberti, Eau Claire, WI; and Mrs. Wesley (Cecelia) Ehrecke, Des Moines; 16 grandchildren; four brothers; Eugene Schettler, Carroll; Leonard Schettler, Carroll; Hoe Schettler, Harlingen, TX: and Ray Schettler, Breda; five sisters: Mrs. Herman (Colette) Grote, Breda; Mrs. Ray (Marcella) Gross, Carroll; sister Karen (Laurine), FSPA, LaCrosse, WI; Sister Lucille, FSPA, Spokane, WA; and Mrs. Fred (Rita) Larenz, Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Milton in 1958; three sisters, Cecelia, Leona and Georgia, and a brother, Vincent.

Mr. Schettler was born at Breda on April 20, 1910, a son of Bernard and Emma Hoebing Schettler. He grew up in the Breda area and attended St. Bernard schools. On February 18, 1941, he was married to Marion Reising at St. Bernard church with the Rev. Edgar Schleyer officiating.

After their marriage, they made their home in Carnarvon, where he worked for the Ronald Meyer Popcorn Company.

In 1946, he moved back to the Breda community and was employed as an artist for Paul Langenfeld. In 1950, he and Delbert Montgomery formed the Schettler Studios, which they owned and operated before his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of St. Bernard parish in Breda.
