Iowa CityDaniel R. Huting, 39, of Iowa City, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City following a battle with colon cancer.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City. Rev. Rudolph T. Juarez will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and a rosary will be prayed at 6 tonight at the church

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Huting was born Sept. 26, 1970, in Waterloo. He graduated in 1989, from West High School in Waterloo and later went on to graduate from Ellsworth Community College.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick Catholic Church and a longtime member of Bassmasters. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, the Dallas Cowboys, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of Iowa City; two children: Steven and Maggie, both of Iowa City; his mother, Barb Shroyer and her husband Don of North Liberty; grandparents: Lois Rooff of Waterloo, Fred and June Huting of Waterloo and Roger and Jan Corbin of Traer; his mother- and father-in-law, Steve and Rose Vonnahme of Altoona; and sisters-in-law: Laura Rothchild and husband Brenton of Altoona and Kim Brix and husband Matt of Ankeny.

Mr. Huting was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Shroyer; and his grandfather, Leo Rooff.
