ODEBOLTDelmar T. Reis, 74, of Odebolt died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Odebolt.

Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery at Odebolt.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. and a vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

A son of Joseph and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis, he was born Jan. 30, 1932, on a farm in Carroll County and attended rural school.

He and Arlene A. Batta were married April 18, 1950, at Carroll. They had seven children.

The Reises lived near Carroll, Westside, Wall Lake and Vail before moving to Odebolt in 1959.

Mr. Reis was a farm laborer; drove a milk truck for two years; was a salesman and mechanic for Carrier Automotive, Mandernach Motors and Beckman Motors; and joined ownership of Reis Service in 1979. He retired in 1995.

He enjoyed working on stock cars, racing, gardening, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and training horses. Mr. Reis also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and part-tiume police officer.

Survivors include six children and their spouses: Michael Reis and wife Lucy of Fullerton, Neb., Patrick Reis and wife Becky of Odebolt, Thomas Reis and wife Judy of Gilbert, Deanna Russell and husband Kenneth of Storm Lake, Ted Reis and wife Diane of Omaha, Neb., and Mark Reis and wife Tandy of Odebolt; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Reis, of Jones, Okla.; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Karen Reis of Des Moines, Janice Huisenga of Carroll and Illa Mae Riesberg of Halbur; four sisters-in-law: Helen Reis of Coon Rapids, Shirley Schachtner of Carroll, Luella Reis of Auburn and Betti Lunkenheimer of Odebolt; and two brothers-in-law: Louis Williams of Carroll and Frank Batta of Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Reis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene, on Nov. 12, 1990; a son, Timothy Reis; four brothers: LaVerdos, Unis, Myron, and Joseph Reis Jr.; and three sisters: Lorraine Killeen, Darnella Loneman and Betty Williams.
