Dorothy Mae Ziegmann, 75, of Wall Lake, died on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake with Father John McGuirk officiating.  

Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 22, 1934, at Dedham, the daughter of Francis Xavier and Anna (Gruber) Peter.  She grew up in the Dedham area. Following graduation from St. Angela Academy in 1953, she went to work for AIDS Insurance, which later became Allied Insurance. She moved to Des Moines in 1961.

On Sept. 28, 1963, Dorothy was united in marriage to Marvin Ziegmann at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. They lived on the North shore of Lake View and in 1986 moved to Wall Lake.  Four children were born to this union, Steve, Bill, Brian and Julie. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family.

Dorothy was an avid sports fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bulls. She enjoyed watching game shows on television and doing word searches.       

Survivors include her husband, Marvin; three sons Steve of Lake View, Bill of Omaha and Brian of Omaha; daughter Julie of Lake View; brothers Alfred (LaVonne) Peter and Robert (Jane) Peter both of Dedham; sisters Betty Riesenberg of Carroll, Theresa (Lavern) Riesenberg of Halbur, Frances (Kenny) Wieland of Templeton, and Carol (Vernon) Irlmeier of Glidden; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters: Marie Danner, Rose Maile and Lucille Ziegmann.
