Last Rites Held Monday For Mrs. B. G. Schettler
Passed Away Thursday at Her Home in Breda

A solemn requiem Mass was read at funeral services for Mrs. Bernard Schettler, 71, at St. Bernard Church at 9:30 Monday morning. Rev. J. P. Hausman was celebrant of the Mass. Rev. Fr. Philip Dailey of Wall Lake, deacon, Rev. P. M. Sturm, Mount Carmel, sub-deacon and Rev Fr. Brady was master of ceremonies.

Mrs. Schettler passed away at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at her home. She had been ill about 6 months. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Ralph Grote, John Grote, Norbert Grote, Donald Schettler, Edward Schettler, Edwin Schettler and Leonard Grote.

Mrs. Schettler, the former Emma Hoebing, was born April 15, 18812 on a farm near Wall Lake. She was a small child when her parents John and Angela Nieland Hoebing and family moved to the Breda area. She attended St. Bernard School.

Her marriage to Bernard Schettler took place February 12, 1901 at St. Bernard's Church with Rev. Fr. Anler officiating.

For 48 years, Mr. and Mrs. Schettler lived on a farm north of Breda. They retired three years ago to their home in Breda.

They had 14 children with 10 surviving. Eugene and Leonard, Carroll, Mrs. Herman W. (Colette) Grote, Cyril and Joe, Mrs. Ray (Marcella) Gross, Carroll, Sister M. Karen (Laurine), Sister M. Cecile (Lucille), Ray and Rita, Breda. There were 41 grandchildren.

Deceased children were Cecilia, Vincent, Leona and Georgia. She is survived by three brothers, George and Leonard Hoebing, Oklahoma, Ed Hoebing, Okarche, Oklahoma, and one sister, Mrs. Ed Bosold of Early, and her stepmother, Mrs. John Hoebing, Oklahoma.

She was a member of St. Bernard's parish and it's Christian Mother Society.
