Mass of the Christian burial for Florence Boes will
be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Holy Spirit Church
in Carroll.
Mrs. Boes, 87, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, of injuries
received in a pedestrian/train accident in Carroll.
Concelebrating the Mass will be the Revs. Peter Duc
Nguyen and James McCormick.
Lectors will be Stan Slessor, Elaine Boes and Tom
Tibbitts. Gift bearers will be Tracy Hartley, Melanie Boes, Jennifer
Berst and Jill Goodman.
Casket bearers will be Kent Slessor, Eric Slessor,
Steve Slessor, Kevin Boes, Bruce Hartley, Martin Berst and Jay Goodman.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
The casket will be taker to the church at 8 a.m. Saturday.
A daughter of Joseph and Frances (Ortner) Schapman,
she was born March 10, 1914 at Mount Carmel.
She was raised in the Mount Carmel and Breda communities
attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and graduated from St.
Bernard High School.
She and Clarence Boes were married on Jan. 2, 1941,
at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel.
Mrs. Boes was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, its
Ladies Guild, Holy Spirit Quilters, Retired and Senior Volunteer
Program and the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed needlework, quilting,
reading, cards and board games.
Survivors include three children and their spouses,
Robert and Elaine Boes, of Emmetsburg, Joan and Tom Tibbitts of
Fort Dodge and Ellen and Stan Slessor of Waverly; 10 grandchildren;
5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Schapman of Carroll;
and three sisters, Agnes Vonnahme of Carroll, Sister Rose Schapman
FSPA of LaCrosse, Wis., and Rita Montgomery and her husband Ed,
of Carroll.
Mrs. Boes was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband Clarence; two brothers, Albert Schapman and Paul Schapman;
and a sister, Alma Lopach.
