Harold H. Riesberg 1930 - 1997

Mass of the Christian burial for Harold H. Riesberg of Halbur will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur.

Mr. Riesberg, 66, died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, his home since July 1996.

The Rev. Paul Kelly will officiate the Mass. Lector will be Tricia Langel. Gift bearers will be Brett Willenborg, Andrew Ocker and Jessica Ocker. Ehlers Gerken American Legion Post No. 694 of Arcadia will form a military honor guard. Casket bearers will be Scott Halbur, Rod Spearman, Kelly Reis, Rick Olerich, Mark Tunning and Randy Williams. Honorary casket bearers will be Leny Thelen, Paul Schaben, Neil Polking, Gerald Van Erdewyk, Don Riesberg, Clarence Eischeid, Leonard Riesselman and Delmar Thelen. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur.

Visitation will begin at 7, a prayer service will be held at 7:30 and a rosary will be recited at 8:15 tonight at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll.

Born Oct. 16, 1930, at Carroll, he was a son of John A. and Carmalita (Schulte) Riesberg. He was educated at St. Augustine grade school and Carroll High School. Mr. Riesberg was a corporal in the Army from 1952 - 54 and served in Alaska for 18 months. He and Illa Mae Reis were married June 18, 1955, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.

Mr. Riesberg was co-owner of Riesberg Garage in Halbur. He was employed with Hawkeye Insurance and was a salesman for Agri Bolt. A lifelong resident of Halbur, he was a member of St. Augustine Parish in Halbur, the Ehlers- Gerken American Legion Post No. 694 of Arcadia and was a past member of the Carroll Elks Club.

Survivors include his mother, Carmalita Riesberg, of Audubon; his wife, Illa Mae Riesberg, of Halbur; six children: Becky Ocker, her husband, Bill, and children Andrew, Jessica and Mckenzie, all of Lincoln Neb.; Barb Willenborg, her husband, Steve, and children Brett, Cody and Austin, all of Manning; Janet Wiederien, her husband, Leo, and children Nicole and Brandon, all of Des Moines; Joe Riesberg, his wife, Kim, and daughter, Bailee, all of Pocatello, Idaho; Jeff Riesberg of Shawnee, Kan.; and Jay Riesberg and his fiancée, Amy Riesenberg, both of Templeton; five sisters: Marion GoodKnight of Kalamazoo, Mich., Lorraine Schieffer and her husband, Gene, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Eillen Halbur and her husband, Leander, of Manning, Lois Tunning of Guthrie Center and Joni Spearman and her husband, Jim, of Jefferson; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Riesberg, of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Riesberg; his son, Jack Riesberg; and his parents-in-law, Joseph and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis.
