Herman Titus Lammers 1913-2005

West Union, Iowa, February 1940

Herman Titus Lammers, son of Gerhard and Josephine (Schroder) Lammers was born July 3, 1913 at Breda, Iowa. He attended country school near Breda.

On February 6, 1940 Herman was united in marriage to Henrietta Kleespies in Sioux City, IA. Herman worked as a truck driver hauling livestock. He served his county with the United States Navy from September of 1943 to December of 1945. Herman and Henrietta owned a restaurant in Breda until Henrietta's death on October 6, 1975.

Herman married Genevieve [Nieland] Whitcher on October 16, 1979 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union. He was a member of Holy Name Church and enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards and golfing.

Herman's death occurred May 15, 2005 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa from complications following hip surgery. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Henrietta; his parents; nice brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Genevieve; his step daughter, JoAnn (Earl) Moss of West Union; his step-son, Allen Whitcher of West Union four step-grandchildren, Craig and Pam Moss of Summer, Christopher and Laurie Moss of West Union, Rhonda and Chad Oakland of Hawkeye and Robert Whitcher of Waterloo; four step-great grandchildren, Mallory, Nelson and Cassandra Jo Moss, Sylvia Oakland, and nieces and nephews.
