Joan Phillips Boes of 2063 Adriel
Drive, Fort Collins, Colorado, 80524, died Saturday, October 28,
2006, at Poudre Valley Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Joan was born May 31, 1940, in Providence, Rhode Island.
She grew up in Norton, Massachusetts, and attended Colby College
in Waterville, Maine, where she graduated with honors in 1962. Working
as a programmer in Electronic Switching Systems at Bell Telephone
Laboratories, Joan met Duane Boes. They married July 3, 1964 and
moved to Fort Collins the following year, where Duane worked as
a professor of statistics at Colorado State University. Joan gave
up working to raise her family. She was also extremely active, spending
time horseback riding, volunteering for the League of Women Voters
(where she served several years as an officer), and playing tennis
- her true passion.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Duane; daughter Alisan
and husband Neil, with grandchildren Max and Nichola; daughter Karin
and her husband, Erik, and daughter Kirstin. Also surviving are
sisters, Nancy, Lyn and Pam.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society.
