JOHN BOES, 80, PASSED AWAY SUNDAY MORNING
Funeral Services Held At St. Bernard Church
John Boes, 80, of Breda, died at 7:30 Sunday morning,
March 13, at his home in Breda after a two month illness.
Mr. Boes was a lifelong resident of the Breda community.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St.
Bernard's church. The Very Rev. Zeno Reising was the celebrant at
the solemn requiem high mass; Rev. Dale Koster, sub deacon; Rev.
C. Knobbe, deacon, and Rev. Geo. Wessling, master of ceremonies.
Burial was in St. Bernard's cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ted Steinkamp, Tony Boes, Andrew
Reising, Cyril Boes, John Geier and Edgar Schulte, nephews of the
deceased.
Mr. Boes, son of Gerhard and Anna Nieland Boes, was
born Dec. 19, 1874, on a Carroll county farm three and one-half
miles west and two miles south of Breda. When he was two years old,
he moved with his parents to a farm three and one-half miles west
and three miles north of Breda, where he lived until 1941. He moved
into the town of Breda at that time.
Mr. Boes was married Oct 8, 1901, at St. Bernard's
church in Breda to Anna Geier, who preceded him in death.

Surviving children are: The Rev. Norbert J. Boes,
Salix; William, Wall Lake; Julius, Breda; Mrs. Henry (Elnora) Steinkamp,
Wall Lake; Leonard, Wall Lake; Cletus, Breda, and Romain, Carroll.
One of a family of nice children, he leaves a brother,
Joe Boes, Breda, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Reising and Mrs. Leo
Schulte, Breda. Three sisters and two brothers are deceased. Two
sons also preceded him in death.
Mr. Boes was a member of St. Bernard's church.

Large Number of Relatives And Priests Attend
John Boes' Rites
Solemn requiem mass was read at funeral services in
St. Bernard church her at 10 a.m. Wednesday for John Boes, 80, who
died at his home in Breda Sunday morning after a two-month illness.
Celebrant of the mass was the Very Rev. Zeno Reising
of Alton. The Rev. C. A. Knobbe of Manson was deacon; the Rev. Dale
Koster of Danbury, sub-deacon and the Rev. George Wessling of Auburn,
master of ceremonies.
Acolytes were Thomas and Eldon Boes. Thurifers were
Ardel Boes and Daryl Steinkamp.

Mr. Boes, retired farmer, was a lifelong resident
of the Breda community. Preceded in death by his wife, he is survived
by six sons, the Rev. Norbert J. Boes, Salix; William Wall Lake;
Julius, Breda; Leonard, Wall Lake; Cletus, Breda; and Romain, Carroll,
and one daughter, Mrs. Henry Steinkamp, Wall Lake. Other survivors
include one brother, Joe Boes, Breda, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara
Reising and Mrs. Leo Schulte, Breda.
Fr. Norbert Boes, who was injured in an automobile
accident about a month ago and has since been a patient in St. Joseph's
hospital in Sioux City, was brought to Breda to attend funeral services
for his father.
