Joseph W. Nieland 1910-2001 The Breda News, May 2001 Funeral services for Joseph W. Nieland of St. Cloud, Minn., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs medical Center Chapel in St. Cloud. Mr. Nieland, 91, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, with full military honors by the Veterans of foreign Wars Post No. 428. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the V.A. Medical Center Chapel in St. Cloud, and Daniel Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A son of Bernard and Catherine (Thelen) Nieland, he was born March 23, 1910, in St. Augusta Township, Stearns County, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army in Italy and Sicily during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Mr. Nieland lived and worked in St. Cloud for the remainder of his life. Mr. Nieland is survived by a brother and a sister, and preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Clara Roberts and five brothers, John Julius, Gerhard, Al and Frank Nieland.
