A funeral service for Julia F. Poeppe will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, 1997, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.

Mrs. Poeppe, 87, a native of Breda, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997, at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg.

Burial will be in St. John Cemetery at Emmetsburg.

She was born July 17, 1908, at Breda, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Naberhaus) Nieland, and attended rural school near Breda.

She and Albert J. "Pat" Poeppe were married Jan. 15, 1929, at Breda.

The Poeppes farmed in the Carroll area until 1947, when they bought a farm near Emmetsburg. In 1973 they moved into Emmetsburg.

Mrs. Poeppe was a member of Holy Family Parish and CDA.

Survivors include eight children: Dolora Brincks of Carroll, Wayne Poeppe of Eagleville, Mo., Fern Dobbins of Moorhead, Minn., Kenneth Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Phyllis Lindsey of Laurens, Dale Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Patricia Metzger of Estherville and Zeline Gappa of Emmetsburg; 37 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Norbert Nieland of Carroll and Arnold Nieland of Auburn; and three sisters: Eleanor Nees of Carroll, Marie Reineke of Carroll and Genevieve Lammers of West Union.

Mrs. Poeppe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert, on Nov. 25, 1976; a daughter, Sister Anita Poeppe, [FSPA]; two sisters: Sister Anthusa Poeppe [should be Nieland, FSPA] and one in infancy; a brother, Richard Nieland; a grandson, Donald Poeppe; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Sharp.
