MARCUS, Iowa - Kathleen "Kay" Delperdang,
70 of Marcus died of cancer Monday, March 22, 1999, at Orange City
Municipal Hospital in Orange City, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name
Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2
p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m. said by Catholic Daughters of
America and a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements
are under the direction of Earnest and Roethler Funeral Chapel in
Marcus.
Mrs. Delperdang was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Le Mars,
Iowa, the daughter of Arthur A. and Bertha (Nieland) Braun. She
was raised in the Alton, Iowa area and attended school there.
She married Milton Delperdang on Nov. 12, 1947, in
Alton. The couple farmed near Marcus for many years. They retired
in 1988 and moved into Marcus.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, where
she served as Eucharistic minister, cantor and lector, Holy Name
Choir and served as choir director. She was also a member of Catholic
Daughters of America, St. Ann's Guild, Holy Name Missionary Society,
Sacred Heart League and Catholic Council of Women and Marcus Golf
Club Ladies League. She chaired the World Day of Prayer and the
hospitality committee and M.C.ed the Kiddies Parade for the Marcus
Fair. They were named Holy Name Knights of Columbus Family of the
Year in 1998. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards and music.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter and her
husband, Suzanne and Don Willis of Marcus; two sons, Steve of Marcus
and Doug and his wife, Nikie of Claremore, Okla.; two brothers and
their wives, Art and Doris Braun of Remsen, Iowa, and Tom and Charlene
Braun of Alton; a sister and her husband, Rose Mary and Cyril Ortmann
of Merrill, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Braun of Granville,
Iowa; three stepsisters, Estelle Henrich of Huntington Station,
N.Y., Delores Pfaffle of Sioux City and Rosemary and her husband,
Chuck Iddings of Chester, S. D.; a stepbrother, Robert Henrich of
San Pedro, Calif.; six grandchildren, Cassandra, Theodore and Joey
Willis, Jessica, Erica and Stefanie Delperdang; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother,
Dolorosa Henrich-Braun; a sister, Margaret Schreier; and a brother,
Leo Braun.
Pallbearers will be Ed Ortmann, Mike, Roger and Tim
Braun, Tom and Dan Schreier.
