Frank Buelt 1922-1984

Leo F. Buelt, 62, of Breda, died
unexpectedly Tuesday, May 8, of a heart ailment enroute to St. Anthony
Regional Hospital in Carroll.
He was a partner with his
brother, Ben Buelt, in the operation of the Buelt Hatchery in Breda.
Mass of the Christian Burial
was celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, 1984, at St. Bernard church
in Breda, with the Rev. Richard Birdsall as celebrant. Sister Pauline
Wittry was lector. Joan and Merrie Ann Buelt were gift bearers and
Jim Buelt, Kenny Buelt and Brian Gerken were mass servers. Burial
was made in the parish cemetery with military graveside honors by
Fred F. and Norman J. Bruening Post No. 607, American Legion of
Breda.
Serving as casket bearers
were Delmar Bruning, Frank Rosener, Ivan Padget, Earl Boes, Dick
Steinkamp and Wayne Feldman.
Funeral services were in charge
of the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda, were rosaries were recited at
3:00 and 8:45 p.m. Thursday, and a scriptural prayer service at
8:00 p.m. by the parish.
Mr.
Buelt is survived by his wife, Leona, Breda; three daughters: Mrs.
Don (Kay) Davis, Kent, WA; Mrs. Bob (Mary Jo) Haller, Omaha, and
Mrs. Andrew (Rosie) Wiederin, Cedar City, UT; two sons: Leo, Elk
Horn, and Robert Buelt, Breda; eight grandchildren; three sisters:
Mrs. Rose Steffen, Albert City; Helen Buelt and Mrs. Kathryn Buxton,
both of Breda; four brothers: Ed, Lake City; Larry, Jefferson; Ben
and Al Buelt, Breda, and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Anna Wittry, Breda.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; three sisters: Blondina Buelt, Elizabeth Buelt and
Cecilia Schmieding, and a brother, John Buelt.
Mr. Buelt was born February
11, 1922, at Tempelton, a son of Henry and Elizabeth Soppe Buelt.
He spent his early years in Tempelton, and as a young boy moved
with his parents to Breda, where he attended school. On November
22, 1944, he was married to Leona Wittry at St. Bernard church in
Breda by the Rev. Schleyer.
In 1938, he became a partner with his brother
in the hatchery business and prior to his death was still active
in it. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in
the European, African and Middle Eastern campaign overseas. He was
a member of St. Bernard church and Fred F. and Norman J. Bruening
Post of the American legion at Breda.
