Mass of the Christian burial for Lorne Steinkamp of Arcadia will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Nov. 5, 1999, at St. John Church in Arcadia.
Mr. Steinkamp, 67, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
The Rev. William Schreiher will preside at the Mass. Lector will he Diana Hoogestraat. Gift hearers will be Rollie and Kerry Schoessler. Servers will be Alex and Amber Vonnahme. Eucharistic ministers will be Virginia Wernimont, Dan Wernimont and Kris Wernimont.
Casket hearers will he Terry Eich, Randy Eich, Al Wernimont, Craig Wernimont, Mark Evers, Doug Evers, Russ Steinkamp, Brad Stoffers, Brian Stoffers and Dan Wernimont. Honorary casket bearers will be Jeff Booth, Dan Schmitz, Steve Vonnahme, Mike Vonnahme, John Vonnahme, Joe Vonnahme, Bruce Vonnahme and Allen Vonnahme.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Arcadia American Legion post.
Visitation and a rosary by Kuemper Catholic Schools were held this afternoon at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. There will be a Christian wake service by St. John Parish at 7:30 and another rosary will be prayed at the funeral home.
A son of Frank and Emma (Damm) Steinkamp, he was born Jan. 31, 1932, at Arcadia and spent his life there. He attended St. John School in Arcadia and Westside High School.
After World War II he joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific.
He and Gladys Vonnahme were married Jan. 24, 1959, at St. John Church in Arcadia.
The Steinkamps farmed west of Arcadia until 1981, when they moved into town.
Mr. Steinkamp was a member of St. John Parish in Arcadia, member and honor guard participant at the American Legion post in Arcadia and a former director of Arcadia Telephone Corp. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys, of Arcadia; a brother, Melvin Steinkamp, and his wife, Bcrnice, of Arcadia; four sisters and their husbands: Leota and Harold Eich of Ogden, Cleone and Rollie Evers of Cedar Falls, Virginia Wernimont of Atlantic and Neva and Bill Whitaker of Orange, Calif.; and five siblings-in-law and their spouses: Leon Vonnahme of Arcadia, Alice Schmitz of Arcadia, LcRoy and Norma Vonnahme of Arcadia, Vera and Roland Booth of Guthrie Center and Lyle and Lorraine Vonnahme of Carroll.
Mr. Steinkamp was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and their wives: Merlin and Lenore Steinkamp and Raymond and Virginia Steinkamp; and two brothers-in-law, Wilfred Wernimont and Leo Schmitz.
