Mass of the Christian burial for Lorraine Elizabeth Killeen was this morning,- Nov. 20, 2000, at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Churdan.
Mrs. Killeen. 79, of Churdan, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Burial was at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery west of Churdan. Father Steven McLoud presided at the services. Brown Funeral Home in Churdan handled arrangements.
She was born Nov. 11, 1921, at Breda to Joseph and Caroline (Steinkamp) Reis. She was raised in Breda and attended school there.
Following her school, she worked as a waitress at a cafe in Carroll where she met Charles Leslie Killeen. They married on Feb. 22, 1944, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda.
The couple farmed west of Churdan. Mr. Killeen died in January 1970. Mrs. Killeen then moved to Churdan. From 1970 to 1983 she was a cook at Paton-Churdan High School. She also worked for many years at the Redwood in Jefferson. She continued to live in Churdan after her retirement in 1993.
She was a member of St. Columbkill Church in Churdan, the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Mrs. Killeen, is survived by her children, Joleen Lusk and her husband, Eddie, of Minneapolis, Minn., Joyce Snyder of Grimes and Steve Killeen and his wife, Brenda, of Churdan; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaVerdos Reis of Auburn and Delmar Reis of Odebolt; and three sisters, Janice Huisenga of Carroll, Ilia Mae Riesberg of Halbur and Karen Reis of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
