Louis
B. Wittrock, 70, of Carroll, died early Tuesday, January 19, 1993,
at the Carroll Manor Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday.
January 22, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Celebrant will be
Father Robert Gralapp.
Lector for the Mass will be Michael Wittrock, Jr.
Gift bearers will be grandchildren, Robby and Jon Wittrock.
Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Casket bearers will be David Wittrock and Mr. Wittrock's
five sons, Philip, Richard, Curtis, Charles and Scott Wittrock.
Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Sharp
Funeral Home in Carroll. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Thursday
and there will be a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday
by St. Lawrence Parish at the funeral home.
Mr. Wittrock was born November 9, 1922, at Okarche,
Okla., a son of Joseph and Rose (Nieland) Wittrock. He spent his
younger years in the Okarche area and received his formal education
there.
In May of 1942, he entered the U.S. Army and served
during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater.
He was honorably discharged in August of 1946 and came to the Carroll
community to work for his uncle, Mike Wittrock, at Wittrock Motors
in Carroll.
He was later employed at the former Deluxe Cleaners
and Great Plains Gas Co.
On September 1, 1950, he was married to Ferne Graves
at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The couple spent their entire
married lifetime in Carroll.
He had been a resident of the Carroll Manor for the
past three weeks.
Mr. Wittrock was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in
Carroll and the parish men's club.
He is survived by his wife, Ferne, of Carroll: five
sons, Philip Wittrock and his wife, Tracey, of Omaha, Neb., Richard
Wittrock and his wife, Susan, of Minneapolis, Minn., Curtis Wittrock
and his wife, Sherry, of Rock Falls, Ill., Charles Wittrock and
his wife, Patti, of Denver, Colo., and Scott Wittrock of Wake Island
in the South Pacific Ocean; four grandchildren, Robby, Jon, Andrew
and Kayle Wittrock; two brothers, Cletus Wittrock and his wife,
Loretta, of Okarche, Okla., And Carl Wittrock of Bethany, Okla.;
And two sisters, Rita Forman and her husband, Stanley, of Kingfisher,
Okla., And Mildred Pappe and her husband, Max, of Cathedral City,
Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son,
Joseph, in infancy; and two brothers, Herbert and Lawrence Wittrock.
