Mrs. Angela M. Hoebing (nee) Nieland died at her home
in Okarche, Friday, February 27 at 6:35 p.m. after a long protracted
illness, aged 75 years, 10 months, and 10 days. She passed quietly
away contented with the will of God, in peace with her creator and
this busy world in the presence of her family and spiritual consolation.
Mrs. Hoebing was born at Sudlohn, Westphalia, Germany.
She emigrated in May 1870 to Dyersville, Iowa. There she was united
in holy wedlock to J.H. Hoebing, May 8, 1873. In 1876 this young
couple moved on a farm near Wall Lake, Sac County, Iowa. In 1890
they moved across the county line near Breda, Carroll County, Iowa
and 1902 the family moved to Oklahoma on a farm SW of Okarche. In
1911 the aged couple retired from the farm and has since lived in
Okarche. To this happy union 11 children were born, 6 of whom preceded
her in death in infancy. Near relatives surviving her are her bereaved
husband, John H. Hoebing, Mrs. B.G. Schettler of Breda, Iowa, Mrs.
Frances Naberhaus, Early, Iowa, George C, Ed B., and Leonard L.
Hoebing of Okarche, her brother Henry Nieland of Breda, Iowa, and
26 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Hoebing was an earnest and devout Christian and
loyal member of the Catholic Church.The obsequies were conducted
at the Catholic Church by Rev. Z. Steber at 9 a.m. Monday March
2nd when a large concourse of sorrowing friends accompanied the
remains to the Catholic cemetery where after the last sad rites
the remains were laid to rest.
