Mass of the Christian burial for Marian Schettler
of Breda will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1996, at St. Bernard
Church in Breda with the Rev. Thomas Hart officiating.
Mrs. Schettler, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996,
of an apparent heart condition at her home.
Lector for the Mass will be Wesley Ehrecke. Gift bearers
will be Eric Schettler, Justin Ehrecke, Megan Schettler, and Noah
LaLiberte. Eucharistic Minister will be Susan Schettler.
Born Feb. 24, 1918, at Breda, she was a daughter of
Louis and Barbara (Heidenreich) Reising.
She spent most of her lifetime in the Breda community
and attended Breda schools. She then attended Buena Vista College
in Storm Lake and received a teaching certificate. She taught country
school.
She and Cyril Schettler were married Feb. 18, 1941,
at St. Bernard Church in Breda with the Rev. Edgar Schleyer officiating.
Following their married [sic], the couple lived in
Carnarvon, Rock Island, Ill., And Bellevue. They returned to Breda
in 1950 when her husband founded Schettler Studio's.
She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and the Parish
Ladies Guild.
Survivors include ten children and their spouses:
Charles Schettler and his wife, Arlene, of Arlington, Va., Darrell
Schettler and his wife, Sarah, of Carroll, Emily Galloway and her
husband, William, of Blue Springs, Mo., Michael Schettler and his
wife, Denine, of Glenpool, Okla., William Schettler and his wife,
Susan of Mount Vernon, Robert Schettler and his wife, Rose, of Breda,
Mary LaLiberte and her husband, Paul of Eau Claire, Wis., David
Schettler and his wife, Kathy, of Phoenix, Ariz., Bernard Schettler
and his wife, Bonnie, of Winchester, Va., and Cecilia Ehrecke and
her husband, Wesley, of Plymouth, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Estelle Steinkamp of Wall
Lake, Viola Koster and her husband, Walter, of Breda, Rita Schwarzkopf
and her husband, Bernard, of Lake View and Dorothy Walz of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband
Cyril, in 1986; a son, Milton Schettler; a brother, Marcell Reising;
and a sister, Sister Emerentia Reising, FSPA.
