WEST UNION, Ia — Marion Whitcher, 59, West Union, Iowa, died at Iowa City Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union.

Friends may call at the Burnham-Wood Funeral Home at West Union. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rosaries will be recited at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Witcher was married to the former Genevieve Nieland of Breda. He was employed by the Interstate Power Company of West Union for 37 years.

Surviving are his wife, Genevieve of West Union, a daughter, Joann of West Union; a son, Allen of California, ....

Funeral services were held this afternoon, Thursday, Feb. 16, at 1:30 p.m. for Marion LaVerne Whitcher. Services were at Holy Name Catholic church, with burial in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pall bearers were Merlin Dunt, Roy Burrett, James Nesvik, Bruce Snively, Scott Stahr and Darwin Smith. A prayer service was held Tuesday with Rev. Sutter and Father Weimer officiating. Rosary Society and Parish Rosary were said Wednesday.

Mr. Whitcher was employed by Interstate Power Co. for 37 years. He died Sunday evening, Feb. 12, at Veteran's hospital, Iowa City.

Survivors are his wife, Genevieve [Nieland]; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Joann) Moss, Wet Union; a son, Allen, Gardenia, CA; his father, Ross Whitcher, West Union; a brother, Howard, West Union; five sisters, Mrs. Emmett (Clara) Light, Wadena; Mrs. Elvin (Lillian) Traggord, Mrs. Ralph (Mary) Gray, both of Waterloo; Mrs. Thomas (Alice) Powell, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Evelyn Schmeling, West Union.
