Marlin Fred Bunting, 61, of Iowa City, died unexpectedly in his home, Oct. 1, 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tues., Oct. 6, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello, IA. The Reverend Jonathan Kosec will officiate.
Marlin Fred Bunting was born July 24, 1948 in Anamosa, IA, the son of Fred and Josie Shoop Bunting. He is survived by his loving wife Vickie [Jensen], sons Ryan (friend Kathy) and Christopher; brother Glenn Bunting (Betty), Brandon, MS; sister Bonnie Kraus (Ed), Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Josie Shoop Bunting.
Marlin was educated in the Olin Consolidated Schools and graduated from Ellsworth College. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1968 to 1972. He continued his military career in the Naval Reserves for many years. Marlin retired from Procter & Gamble after 23 years of service.
Marlin dreamed of spending his retirement panning for gold and traveling to Alaska. He also enjoyed cross stitching and creating jewelry with Vickie.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring son, brother, husband and father.
