Marsha Francis Boes, 61, of Carroll, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at her home.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 26, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Celebrants will be the Revs. Timothy Schott and Harold Schneider. Lectors will be Marsha’s godchildren Lauren Burkett and Sarah Boes. Eucharistic ministers will be Kathy and Scott Steffen. Mass servers will be Mark, Sara and Brad Steffen. Gift bearers will be Marsha’s grandchildren.

Music will be “Here I Am, Lord,”, “You Are Near,” We Are Man Parts,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “The Spirit Is a Moving,” “How Can I Keep From Singing” and “Behold the Lamb”. Vocalist will be Ann Steffen and accompanist Marcy Anderson. Casket bearers will be Brian Schneider, Jeff Green, Adam Carpenter, Tony Gaudlip, David Schnurman, and Colin Ward. Honor guard will be Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Memorials may be made to Carroll Iowans for Life or KYMJ 103.1 Catholic Radio Station. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Arrangements are by Ohde Twit Funeral Home.

Marsha Francis, daughter of Wilfred and Mary (Launderville) Schneider, was born August 21, 1949 at Emporia, KS. She started school in Olpe, KS and began high school at St. Scholastica in Ft. Smith, AR. She moved with her family to Carroll, IA in 1965. Marsha graduated from Kuemper High School in 1967. While studying psychology at the University of Nebraska from 1967 - 1969 she worked at the Glenwood State School.

On September 19, 1970 Marsha was united in marriage with Richard Boes at Carroll. They were the parents of four children and made their home in Carroll. Marsha was a teacher’s assistant in the Special Education Class of the Carroll Community School District; volunteer/Outreach Specialist of the Alzheimer’s Association; Home Care Worker and, in addition, did house cleaning for 25 years. She was very active in the community and St. Lawrence Parish where she served as chair of the Sponsor Couple Program and as president of St Lawrence Guild. While a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Rose of Lima Court #6, Marsha served as Regent and State Lifesaver Chairman Against Domestic Abuse for two years. She was a Brownie Scout leader and president of Jayceettes. Marsha was a member of Carroll Area Iowans for Life.

Following a courageous fight against cancer, Marsha died at home in Carroll, Iowa, surrounded by her family on Friday, April 22, 2011. She was 61 years, 8 months and 1 day of age.

She is survived by her husband Richard Boes of Carroll; four children: Jennifer and husband Tony Gaudlip of McMurray, PA; Michael Boes and wife Misty of Carroll; Lisa and husband David Schnurman of Davie, FL; and Kristina and husband Adam Carpenter of Ames; nine grandchildren: Ben, Katy and Ryan Gaudlip; Kyla and Olivia Boes; John and Jacob Schnurman and Libby and Sophie Carpenter; mother Mary Schneider of Carroll; four sisters: Mary Pat and husband Dale Smith of Marion, KS; Theresa and husband Bob Myers of Adel; Julie and husband Vern Beachy of Carroll; and Cheryl and husband Jacob Burkett of St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers Wilfred Schneider of Carroll and Mark Schneider and wife Jan of Glidden; sister-in-law Valerie Schneider of Hutcheson, KS; mother-in-law Eleanor Boes; Richard’s siblings: Nancy and husband Al Pudenz of Carroll; Ron Boes and wife Lydia of Highland Village, TX; Terry Boes and wife Sue of Carroll; Steve Boes and wife Marilyn of Elk Grove Village, IL; Laurie and husband Tim Whicher of Seattle, WA; and Tony Boes and wife Lisa of Ankeny; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Marsha in death are her father Wilfred Schneider; grandparents Bill and Marguerite Launderville and Mark and Augusta Schneider; two brothers Ronald Schneider and Gerald Schneider, brother-in-law Jerome Schweers and nephew Matthew Schneider.
