BREDA
Requiem mass for Mrs. Frank Nieland, 85, lifelong Breda resident,
will be celebrated at 10:30 Friday morning in St. Bernard Church
here by the Rev. John C. Doherty. Interment will be at the parish
cemetery.

Mrs. Nieland died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at St.
Anthony Hospital, where she had been a patient for ten days.
Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll
starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited there at
8 and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday and at 3, 8 and 8:45 p.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Nieland was the former Mary Angela [sic] Naberhaus,
daughter of August and Angela Wempe Naberhaus Boeckman. She was
born at Breda Feb. 21, 1883, and received her education here. On
Feb. 9, 1904, she married Mr. Nieland in St. Bernard Church, with
the late Rev. Gerhard H. Luersmann performing the ceremony. After
their marriage the couple lived on a farm three miles north and
two-thirds mile west of Breda until moving into Breda in 1951. Mrs.
Nieland was a member of St. Bernard Church and the Christian Mothers
Rosary Society.
Surviving are eight children: Sr. M. Anthusa (Cecelia),
St. Michael Home, LaCrosse, Wis.; Mrs. A. J. (Julia) Poeppe, Emmetsburg;
Norbert of Breda; Mrs. Alois (Elinor) Vonnahme, Carroll; Arnold,
Auburn; Richard, Fonda; Mrs. William (Marie) Reineke, Breda; and
Mrs. Marion (Genevieve) Whitcher, West Union; also 26 grandchildren
and 29 great-grandchildren.
Two
sisters, Mrs. Anna Schulte of Early and Mrs. Lena Roth of Fordyce,
Neb.; and two brothers, Ben and August Boeckman, both of Breda,
also survive.
Mrs. Nieland was preceded in death by her husband,
an infant daughter, a grandchild, a sister, Mrs. Regina Weinandt;
and four brothers, George Naberhaus and Tony Boeckman, and two others
in infancy.
