Mary C. Kohorst, 91, of Carroll, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 1994, at the Carroll Health Center.

Mass of the Christian burial for Mrs. Kohorst will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994 at St. John Church in Arcadia with Monsignor James Lafferty officiating. Lector will be Kenneth Venner. Gift bearers will be granddaughters.

Casket bearers will be Oran Kohorst, Arden Kohorst, Mike Harpenau, Bill Lawler, Mark Stocking, George Schechinger and Joe Schechinger. Honorary casket bearers will be granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Arcadia.

She was born May 21, 1903, at Breda, a daughter of Ferdinand and Mary (Nieland) Steinkamp. She attended school in Breda.

She and Joseph Kohorst were married Sept. 22, 1925, at St. Bernard Church in Breda with the Rev. Joseph Schulte officiating.

The Kohorsts farmed in the Arcadia area before retiring in 1963 and moving into Arcadia.

She was a member of St. John Parish, the Christian Mothers and the Guild.

Survivors include three daughters: Mae Schechinger and her husband, Earl, of Adams, Minn., Jean Lawler and her husband, Bill of Westside, and Betty Lawler and her husband, Fenton, of Westside; a son, Vernon Kohorst, and his wife, Nola of Arcadia; two sisters: Theresa (Mrs. Henry) Kramer of Lidderdale and Agnes (Mrs. Hilbert) Eischeid of Manning: 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kohorst was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1974; a sister, Elizabeth Thobe; and five brothers: Tony, Joe, Fred, Walter and Leonard.
